Origins of the Name
The name "Turkey" first appeared in Western sources in the late 11th century, referring to the Seljuk-controlled lands in Anatolia. The official name in German is "Amtlich Republik Türkei", and in Turkish it is "Resmi Cumhuriyeti Türkiye".
Geographical Significance
The northern folded zone of Turkey includes the Cove on a port along the coast of the Black Sea known as Amasra. This region comprises a unique landscape with rugged mountains and picturesque coastline.
Tourism Industry
Turkey's tourism industry has been steadily growing in recent years. In 2019, the country attracted around 51 million foreign tourists, with numbers fluctuating between 41 million in 2015 and 51 million in 2019.
